September 2023 Success Story

Alex Weaver

Alex Weaver

Alex working on his dream.

Alex Weaver graduated from Carroll Hills School in 2020 and began working on vocational skills through his day-site providers Mayle Homes and Starlight. He opened an OOD case to find community employment, chose Family Disability Services to be his employment provider and was hired at Jimmy’s Backyard BBQ. Alex worked through his training, learned his tasks, and quickly became independent without a need for job coaching support. He has been working independently for a few months with only drop-in checks from his employment support. Alex has natural support at his job that assists him with tasks he may struggle with while his job support person from Family Disability Services assists him in learning these skills through other avenues off the clock. Alex’s day site providers also assist him while working on community employment tasks when he attends on his days off. Alex’s dream has always been to work and now he is living it! He has big goals for his life and will keep going after them. He next would like to increase his work hours or find a second job; his drive is awe inspiring! Scrolling through the company picnic pictures on Facebook and seeing how much Alex has become a part of their team at Jimmy’s was the best success for me personally. If you happen to see Alex congratulate him on a job well done and on keeping up the good work. If your business could be assisted by the work Alex and his peers are doing in the community, please reach out to the County Board 330-627-6555 to answer questions on how we can help you support them.
