Jet Program Summer Success!
Job Exploration Training (JET) Program
This summer, six dedicated students from the Carroll County Board of DD’s Job Exploration Training (JET) Program made a big impact in our community. Over six weeks, they volunteered at the Northeast Jefferson County Food Pantry at Trinity Presbyterian Church, helping sort and stock an incredible 23,000 pounds of food. Along the way, they picked up some super useful skills like using the office copier, keeping things clean and organized, filling food orders, and learning about food safety and how to rotate stock.
Their kindness shone through as they assisted someone dealing with mobility and hearing challenges during a tough time, making each day brighter for someone in need.
Pantry Director, Ronnie Shockley, was thrilled with their contributions and looks forward to welcoming the JET Program again next year.
Beyond the pantry, students also detailed vehicles for local residents—earning glowing reviews and repeat requests for next year! A few even got hands-on experiences at Pieces with Purpose, learning about shirt design and providing great customer service.
Each student received a certificate recognizing their hard work and growth.
Here’s to community, compassion, and learning by doing. Great job, JET Crew!
