October 2021 Success Story

Cade Bethel

Cade Bethel

Cade was born 10 weeks early and spent 45 days in the NICU.  He was always a step behind and was never able to run or ride a bike.  At five years old he was diagnosed with Asperger’s and at six he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.  The family was told he wouldn’t walk past eight, he would need ventilator support by 13 and would most likely not see 16.  But in typical Cade style, he defied all the odds.  Cade walked until 17 and only started using a wheelchair because of a broken leg.

Cade graduated in 2020 from Minerva High School and R.G. Drage with a 3.8 GPA in the graphics program.  He attends Mayle Homes day site where he recently started using his talent to make cards, create word search puzzles and produce a monthly Mayle Homes newsletter.  Cade loves video games and hopes to create one of his own one day.   He enjoys reading everything from A Diary of a Wimpy Kid to anything written by Stephen King.  Halloween with very scary costumes is his favorite time of year.

Cade is the true definition of strength and courage and lives each day to the fullest with very little complaints.  He is a miracle!
